EHS'58

Our Grade Schools

In 1954, we departed our separate grade schools of Edmonds, Alderwood Manor, Mountlake Terrace, and Esperance. Instead of stepping into Edmonds High School, as our older siblings did, we came together at the brand new Lynnwood Junior High School just off Hiwy 99 and 196th in Lynnwood, Washington.

By student vote, our school colors were purple and white and our sports teams were known as the "Lynnwood Lancers." As ninth-graders, we were the first graduating class from that school—with no idea how prophetic that event would prove to be . . . three years later we were also the very first graduating class from the [then] "new" Edmonds Senior High School on 212th Street SW.
Visit our grade-school days by going to Photo Albums. 8th Grade photos from all area schools are located on the "School Days 1954" page. Other grade school photos and related trivia appear on the Edmonds, Esperance, and Alderwood Manor pages. Enjoy your visit!
